Our Story

A legacy of tradition, resilience, and craftsmanship spanning four decades

The Beginning

From Two Looms to a Global Name

Jamili Carpet Company, one of the most popular carpet manufacturing companies in Afghanistan, was founded in 1980 in Kabul with just two looms. What began as a modest family workshop — a single room, two wooden frames, and the skilled hands of a few weavers — has grown into a name recognized by collectors, designers, and carpet enthusiasts across more than 30 countries.

In the early days, the founder would personally select wool from highland shepherds, prepare natural dyes using recipes passed down through generations, and weave alongside a small team of artisans. Every carpet was a labor of love, taking months to complete, and each carried the unmistakable character of Afghan craftsmanship.

Through decades of change, Jamili Carpets remained committed to one principle: never compromise on quality. While the world moved toward mass production, we chose the slower, more patient path — hand-knotting every carpet, using only natural materials, and honoring techniques that have defined Afghan carpet-making for over two thousand years.

Founder Portrait

Founder's Message

"When we started in 1980 with just two looms, we had a simple belief: that the art of handmade Afghan carpets — with all its patience, skill, and beauty — was worth preserving. Forty years later, that belief hasn't changed. Every carpet we make is a promise: to our artisans, to our heritage, and to every customer who welcomes a piece of Afghanistan into their home."
